Change of Chair at Lochaber Housing Association
Lochaber Housing Association’s recent Annual General Meeting saw the retirement of Hughie Donaldson as its Chairperson after 5 years’ service. The Association’s Board has elected Andrew Carr as its new Chair. Relinquishing the Chair, Hughie said “My five year term has been challenging but rewarding as the Association addressed the chronic shortage of affordable housing in Lochaber. As I hand over to Andrew, I wish him well and hope that he finds the role as rewarding as I have. It has been a privilege to serve but it’s time to hand the baton to another. I am certain Andrew will lead the Association very successfully.”
The Association’s Chief Executive, Blair Allan said “During Hughie’s tenure we have gone from strength to strength, developing many new much needed affordable homes across Lochaber, consolidating a sound Business Plan, furthering our strategic objectives and strengthening our governance. I am pleased to say though that he is continuing as a Board member. His experience will be invaluable. I am looking forward, as well, to working closely with Andrew as our new Chair. Andrew has been a Board member for a number of years and will bring a fresh perspective to the role, to which he will bring his considerable skills to bear”.
New Chairperson, Andrew Carr added “I have big boots to fill in following Hughie, who has led the Association so ably. However, I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead, and I know that I’ll have the full backing of a talented Board and a hardworking and dedicated staff team”.
In the past year the Association has completed an affordable housing development at the former primary school site, Old School Court, Lochyside, delivering 29 new homes for social rent and shared equity; and is presently on site in Spean Bridge, Strontian and at the former Highland Council Offices at Fulton House in Fort William town centre, building a total of a further 37 new affordable rented properties.
